Following a career that spanned both the public and private sectors, Emily started Echo Blue Innovations in 2016. Echo Blue Innovations provides small business support, executive assistance, project management, efficiency coaching, and research in varied industries.
Emily describes herself as an “amateur sociologist,” and participates in varied activism efforts relating to social justice and feminism. She volunteers with NARAL VA as a Legislative Action Team Member to assist in contacting state-level lawmakers regarding legislation pertaining to reproductive health. In 2017, Emily became a spokesperson for #RespectMyVote, a non-partisan campaign with the Hip Hop Caucus. Emily also works with various political campaigns.
Emily currently volunteers with the Tidewater chapter of Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. Her previous volunteer and philanthropic efforts include work with Girl Scouts, and serving as the Secretary of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Carolina Youth Development Center Advisory Council.
In her spare time, Emily enjoys watching documentaries, attending local sporting events, painting & sewing, and cheering for her beloved Chicago Bulls. She borrows her personal philosophy from Maya Angelou: “My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, & some style.”
